Seminars and workshops
SmartAkva hosts seminars on water quality and fish welfare, bringing together producers, suppliers, authorities, and other stakeholders for knowledge sharing and deeper insights. Our seminars are held and led entirely by our own advisors and specialists — no sales agenda, no product pitch, just independent expertise.
-
Our seminars typically run as full-day sessions built around one core theme, broken into focused sessions throughout the day. Each session digs into a specific angle of the topic — principles, practical challenges, and how to act on the findings — so participants leave with both the "why" and the "how." Sessions are separated by breaks for informal discussion, and the day often closes with a social gathering, giving participants a chance to build relationships across the industry, not just collect information.
-
Topics are drawn from SmartAkva's core areas of expertise: water quality principles and standards, fish health and welfare in relation to water quality, RAS operation and biofilter management, water analysis and how to interpret it, and how to turn monitoring data into decisions. Every seminar is built to match the audience in the room — a session for biologists will go deeper into the technical mechanisms, while a session for owners and managers will spend more time on operational and economic implications.
-
Seminars can be created and tailored upon demand, whether that's a full-day event for your organisation or a focused half-day workshop on one specific challenge. Make a request, and we will provide you with an offer.
03
Fish welfare training
The fish welfare training course is a regulatory requirement for the aquaculture business. If you are an employee working with fish, you will need this course — and you will need to renew it every 5th year to stay compliant.
This is SmartAkva's own course, developed by our specialists to meet the regulatory requirement while giving participants a genuine, practical understanding of fish welfare — not just a box to tick.
-
The course is digital and self-paced, accessible anytime through our learning center platform. It is structured around a set of core themes covering fish welfare in aquaculture operations. Upon completion, participants are certified and receive documentation confirming they meet the regulatory requirement — giving both employees and employers the paper trail they need.
-
Fish welfare training isn't just about compliance. Well-trained employees recognize early warning signs, understand the connection between water quality and welfare, and make better daily decisions on the job — reducing both fish welfare risk and regulatory risk at the same time.
04
Internal training
SmartAkva offers internal training based on your company's needs. Whether your team needs a deep dive into a technical topic or support building out a plan or process, we tailor the training to fit exactly what you're working on. Just ask us.
Examples of what we cover:
-
understanding the parameters that matter and how to act on them
-
how it works, how to monitor it, and how to keep it stable
-
building a plan that reflects your facility's actual conditions and goals
-
structuring and developing a proposal for funding or collaboration
-
understanding certification requirements and what they mean for your operations
Whatever the topic, our internal training is built around your team, your facility, and your specific challenges — not a generic curriculum.
Map the competence in your company
05
Not sure where to start?
If you're uncertain which areas your team would benefit from most, our Knowledge Mapping Service gives you a clear answer before you invest in training. Rather than guessing, you get a structured overview of where your team already has strong competence — and where the real gaps are.
-
We visit your site and assess your team's current expertise across the areas that matter most for RAS operations — water quality management, fish welfare, biofilter understanding, and day-to-day operational routines. This isn't a generic checklist; it's a hands-on assessment grounded in how your facility actually runs.
-
You receive a clear picture of your team's competence today, and a prioritized list of the knowledge gaps that carry the most risk or opportunity for your operation. From there, we can help you build a targeted training plan — whether that's internal training, a seminar, or specific courses — so every hour spent on training addresses a real gap, not a guess.
-
Training only works if it's aimed at the right problem. The Knowledge Mapping Service makes sure your investment in competence goes exactly where it's needed — turning uncertainty about "where do we even start" into a concrete plan of action.
